Is there REALLY an age limit to learning a language? Seriously?

Good news: you can learn a language at any age. What changes isn't your abilities… but the way you learn.

From 0 to 3 years old

Babies are naturally programmed to learn languages.
They imitate, listen, and absorb effortlessly. This is called implicit learning.

👉 The more they hear a language, the easier they integrate it.
👉 They can even distinguish multiple languages without confusing them.

From 3 to 10 years old

Children remain very receptive and curious.
They develop:

  • a good memory
  • imitation skills
  • a logic that helps understand rules

👉 This is the ideal age to learn while having fun (games, stories, songs).

From 11 to 16 years old

Learning becomes a little less "natural" but more structured.
Teenagers:

  • understand grammar better
  • can analyze and reflect

👉 The real challenge here: motivation.

From 20 to 30 years old

We learn differently:

  • less by theory
  • more by practice

👉 Traveling, speaking, and watching series in their original version become essential.

After 40 years old

It's not a question of ability… but of organization.

👉 With 20-30 minutes a day, you can make rapid progress.
👉 Consistency is key.

After 60 years old

It's never too late; on the contrary!

👉 Learning a language:

  • stimulates memory
  • maintains social connection
  • helps preserve the brain

👉 It's also an excellent personal project.

🎯 Conclusion

Whatever your age:
👉 you can learn a language
👉 you just need to adapt your method

And most importantly: practice regularly! Lots of love!
